Community Park Designers Application

Description

Who are the Community Park Designers?

The Community Park Designers (CPDs) is a cohort-based program that supports community members to directly utilize collective decision-making power to further advance the Petaluma River Park’s mission. Each CPD serves as a representative voice of their community(ies) to ensure the creation and sustainability of the River Park is in alignment with community vision. In 2025, the River Park will embark on the second phase of its project, “Build It!,” where the CPDs will focus on the following roles:

  • Advising - provide further guidance to the design team and make essential decisions during the following design phases: Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction

  • Activation - produce an event or program(s) at the River Park peninsula property that serves as a community benefit, cultural exchange, or regional interest.

  • Advocacy - identify key issues in the community that might be creating barriers of access, inclusion, or other usage of the River Park; participate in an advocacy campaign and mobilize other community members and stakeholders.

Goals and Objectives

The goal of the Community Advisory Council (CAC) is to establish long-term systems and/or pathways for community members to make decisions regarding River Park features, programs, and operations that directly impact Equity Priority Populations (EPPs) and the community at-large.

  • Build community leadership skills through artistry, civic engagement, and cross-cultural collaboration.
